Subterranean and Formosan Termite Protection and Treatments

In Florida, there are two groups of termites that require very different types of termite treatments.

The first group, Subterranean and Formosan termites have large colonies, as many as 250,000 – 500,000 individual, hungry termites and locate these colonies in the soil under and around your house. Termites are nature’s recyclers and send workers up to the surface looking for “dead” wood to recycle. They don’t know the difference between a fallen tree and the wood in your home and they can enter into your home to feed on the wood through a crack as small as 1/32 of an inch.

The best treatment for Subterranean and Formosan termites is a soil treatment with Termidor. While baits can be effective some of the time, a soil treatment with Termidor is the most effective treatment available.

There are many different termite control products available to termite control companies. Some are new, some have been around awhile. Some are expensive and some are inexpensive. But there is only one best product for eliminating and protecting against Subterranean and Formosan termites and that is Termidor. And while Termidor is more expensive than competing products, it is worth every penny.

We Use TERMIDOR

After I get rid of the termites, how do I fix the damage that they’ve done?Obviously, it depends upon the extent of the damage and upon whether or not you have a termite warranty in place. If you caught the infestation early enough, it’s possible that the damage is not serious enough to require major repairs. If it does require major repairs, and you have a Safer Home Services Termite Protection Warranty, we will arrange for qualified contractors to repair your home with no out of pocket expense on your part. If you don’t have a Warranty, you’ll have to call building contractors experienced in this kind of renovation and repair and get estimates and go from there. How can I prevent termites from getting into my home? The most effective method of protecting your home against termites is through the professional application of Termidor HE by Safer Home Services. How long does the protection last from a termite treatment?Termite protection can last as long as 10 years, but it’s generally wise to retreat your home at least every two years for peace of mind. How does a termite protection warranty work?It depends on the warranty and the company issuing it to you. The sad truth is that most termite warranties contain quite a few loopholes and gotchas. Of course, every warranty has to set conditions, and Safer Home Services’ Termite Protection Warranty does as well, but they should be fairly straightforward. Here’s how our’s works (but please see the actual warranty paperwork for the full, legally binding details):If, following your homes treatment by Safer Home Services, you find live termites infesting your home, Safer Home Services will hire contractors to repair any new damage caused by those termites. This excludes any previous damage that may have been done to your home, for an amount up to and including $1,000,000 dollars for Subterranean termites or $5,000 for Drywood termites.
